Does Excendia understand speech or touchtone commands?: Excendia uses speech technology to understand your commands over the telephone. You can speak to order Excendia to read your e-mails, call your contacts by name, check your calendar or change your phone status and call forwarding. But this does not mean that speech is the only way to command Excendia. In noisy environments, you may mute your phone and switch to touchtone commands.
Can I use Excendia to develop and run my own speech applications?: Yes. Excendia runs on an open VoiceXML speech mobility platform that can be used to build custom applications easily and rapidly. In fact, Excendia supports industry standards such as VoiceXML, SIP, IMAP and POP3 interfaces, and runs on a variety of call switching and media servers. This means a wide choice of platforms, opening a wealth of business opportunities for application developers.
Can Excendia handle my faxes?: That depends on the telephony provider used for your Excendia service. Excendia can receive fax documents and send them directly to your inbox so you can view them, print them, forward them or archive them confidentially.
