Excendia Inc. Takes Speech-enabled Unified Communications To New Heights By Adding Personalization To Its Virtual Assistant For Mobile Business People.

Boston, October 29, 2007. More and more mobile business people are considering 24 X 7 speech-enabled virtual assistants to help them with a myriad of communications tasks they can perform from any phone using voice commands. These modern road warriors can not only access and work with their office information and telecommunications tools from behind the wheels of their cars as if they were sitting at their desks but they can do so in a safe, hands-free, and eyes-free manner. Now, new virtual assistants such as Excendia’s are being enhanced even further to better reflect the unique preferences and work habits of their users.

“My typical workday starts with a wakeup call from EVA, my Excendia Virtual Assistant.” says Gabor Barta, VP Sales & Business Development at Excendia Inc. “When I get in my car to go to work or visit a client, I put on my Bluetooth headset, hit my cell phone speed dial button and I’m connected to EVA. Since EVA is attached to my office email system and telecom network, I ask her to read me my day’s appointments and create new appointments if necessary. If I’m on my way to visit a client, I tell her to redirect all incoming calls to my cell phone or forward them to my voicemail unless the caller is an important customer who asks to speak with me even though EVA told them that I’m in a meeting. Then I’ll ask her to read me my new emails (using text-to-speech technology) and I can reply to or forward those emails with my verbal response encapsulated as a wave file attachment. Or I might ask EVA to send a brand new email to anyone in my Contacts folder. And last but not least, I ask EVA to play new voicemail messages I may have received overnight and reply to them by asking her to call the sender by name or by phone number. By the time I get to the office or to my client appointment, my Inbox is clean, I returned all my calls, reviewed and set up appointments, responded to meeting requests and taken care of all my messaging tasks – all without ever touching a keypad or taking my eyes off the road or my hands off the wheel. Now that’s what I call a safe and productive drive!”

As productive as it is, Excendia is pushing its Virtual Assistant’s capabilities to new heights by adding new personalization features such as the ability to:

1. Remember the information I’m most interested in hearing first whether it’s e-mails, appointments, voicemail or the news.
2. Remember if and when I can be interrupted during a meeting.
3. Know where to reach me at different days and times based on who is trying to reach me.
4. Keep track of phone numbers I dialed to reach each specific contact be it cell, business or home.
5. Adjust to my personal preferences when it comes to new message notifications, wake-up calls, languages spoken, and call forwarding.

“The bottom line?” says Barta, “Virtual Assistants are getting more and more personal.”

100% open standards-based, Excendia’s Virtual Assistant platform is available as an enterprise stand-alone solution that can be connected to the enterprise’s voice & data networks or as a service via hosted email/Centrex/PBX or VoIP telephony providers.
